International Women's Day: The Contributions of Women in Agriculture

Mar. 6 2023 Events By SB

This week is International Women's Week - and March 8th is International Women's Day - so we are celebrating the contributions of women in agriculture.

More than 30% of farmers are women in the US, responsible for over 300 million acres and $12.9 billion economic impact - with much larger numbers worldwide.

Women have always been a backbone of agriculture, from the early days of subsistence farming to the modern era of commercial farming. Today, women farmers use their skills and knowledge to adapt to a changing climate, sustainably manage natural resources, and increase productivity. They are also working to empower other women in agriculture to benefit from the same opportunities and resources.

This International Women's Week let's celebrate the contributions of women farmers and all they do to feed the world.
